Alpha returned home Friday after spending a week on or off with Grandma Books. She was a delight on Friday evening, staying up late to catch up on what we'd both been up to - lovely time. Today (Saturday) has been an equal delight with the over-riding feeling being that she really wanted to spend time with us - almost as if she'd missed us (surely a first). Feels like a big transition.

About six months ago Alpha said that she wanted to start a blog for the children living and visiting the Isle of Wight, so they'd get to all of the things that are available. Yesterday I went on a big journey. We left the Isle of Wight and we drove (and we drove, and we drove) and finally we got to Grandma and Grandads. When we got there we had a super Sunday dinner and Apple pie. I tried custard for the first time and it was scrumptious. (dictated by AGP, although she wanted to type it)

We dropped over to The Watermill, Calbourne (last working one on the Isle of Wight) briefly on Sunday. After a little persuasion Alpha got into the huge cannon there.

Alpha was talking to Sal yesterday about god again, "I've been thinking about god and trying to understand how we're all here. I don't believe in god, but I'm trying to make sense of it all, so perhaps what had happened was that there was earth, and wood and things around, but he'd put it into order." The school that she's at is very keen on god, as is Rainbows (girl guides for under eights).

I've decided it's time for me to change my toothpaste. My eyes have been opened to other toothpastes. Following the recent visit of my cousins, who, being toothpaste sophisticates had Colgate for Kids, or some such, I now realise my boundaries shouldn't be limited. Alpha had a lovely christmas enjoying many presents from friends, family and even Santa Claus ... he squeezed down our chimney to find a large glass of sherry, two mince pies and a carrot for rudolph. We are on holiday at the moment in Cannes, France. We're very lucky and are staying at George McIntyre's flat very near to the sea front. The weather is beautiful and we have a car to take us around the countryside. We started our trip by flying to Nimes airport and then drove up past Avignon. We stopped there and had a walk around. We found the famous bridge and sang 'sur le pont, d'avignon'.

Today was my first day at infant school. I woke up very early and very excited. Mama and Papa took me to school on the bus and I showed Papa where my new classroom was. I settled in very quickly, probably because it's so lovely there and I already know lots of people who are in the class. Most are friends I made at nursery school. I will only be going until midday for the first two weeks
