The Life and times of Alpha Perry

Today we went back to Sherborne [ picture ] and Dada went to the auction. He managed to get most of the items he wanted and all at rock bottom prices. In the meantime, Mama and I went to the library and sat looking at the children's books. We had to leave earlier than expected though, as I just wanted to run around the library shouting at the top of my voice instead of sitting quietly. When we got home, I had a nice long sleep before spending a few more hours playing and reading. My favourite game at the moment is being chased around my tent which is full of 250 plastic balls. I really love my books as well and can now make the sounds for cows, horses, ducks, tigers (my current favourite), dogs and cats. I am trying hard to learn cock-a-doodle-doo but it is very hard.

Tomorrow one of Dada's friends and his wife and young daughter are coming to stay for the weekend, so I'll have someone my own age to play with. Maddie is a little bit older, but will understand me more than the adults I think.

I was supposed to be going to nursery today, but unfortunately Mama wasn't feeling too well, so we played at home instead. After lunch we went to Sherborne to views items in an auction happening tomorrow, I saw some lovely rocking horses, but they all looked quite expensive, so I'll have to wait a bit longer before taking to the saddle. We didn't take any photos today, but tomorrow Dada is going to take some moving pictures of me walking (now my favourite past time). Keep your eyes peeled on the website for this.

Grandma P [ picture ] arrived in the morning. At midday we set off for Evershot for lunch and went to the the Acorn Inn. We went via Hardy's monument (as in Nelson's 'Kismet Hardy') to Abbotsbury Sub-Tropical Gardens [ picture ] - which was spectacular. A short trip to Chesil beach [ picture ] to look at the tempestuous sea [ picture ] and then home for tea.

Started the day at a Flea market at Beaminster, then went to a Poole pottery auction in Wareham. Drew a blank there so went for a walk around the town and found a very interesting ceramics gallery. M&D got a couple of lovely pots and chose one for my first birthday present from Grandma Perry. On the way home Dada stopped at a modern church in a village called Wool.

Today it rained, again! In the afternoon, in fear of comitting ourselves to cabin fever, we went in search of bargains in Yeovil. Yes, another charity shop hunt. It was successful, but we had to spend a long time sitting in the car park waiting for the rain to subside [ picture ] .

Yesterday it rained all day, so I stayed at home with Mama, playing games and reading all my books. The day before (Saturday), Dada and I went up the hill behind the cottage to take photos of the landscape. After that we went to a jumble sale in a village called Uplyme. Mama and Dada found some bargains, but these included being elbowed by OAPs and trodden on by fanatical housewives. Later on during the day, as we were driving to Seaton to take another look at the trams, we noticed a Goose Fair being held in a small village called Colyton. We decided to take a look.

There were lots of people dressed in funny clothes [ picture ] and playing strange games. There were also some people dancing with bells attached to their legs [ picture ] , which I thought was very funny. There were lots of geese [ picture ] , ducklings and even some falcolns. I was able to practice walking, and when Mama and Dada wanted to pick me up, I insisted that I walk everywhere. I think they wanted me to move a bit faster, but it is hard when you only have small legs.

After this we went to look at some big houses that Mama and Dada had seen for sale in the paper, and later on to see the sea [ picture ] .
